Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you are planning on travelling distance to attractions, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

Bishop Monkton Railway Cutting Nature Reserve

A small haven for wildlife tucked away in an intensively agricultural landscape. Cut into the magnesian limestone belt, this stretch of the now disused London and North Eastern Railway line provides ideal conditions for lime-loving plant species. The rich abundance of flowers and sheltered nature of the site provides sun traps for basking insects, particularly for a number of butterfly species.
